Tuggeranong Valley Band

The Tuggeranong Valley Band was established in 1980 as a small community concert band based in the Tuggeranong Valley. The organisation has grown since then and now fields two bands:

  1. The Ensemble Band is a beginner to intermediate level band aimed at students and adults who want to develop their musical skills or are returning to playing again after a few years away from their instrument.

  2. The Concert Band is aimed at more experienced players and is aimed at intermediate to medium-advanced level musicians.

Both bands have a wide repertoire of music covering a variety of styles including classical, jazz, popular and movie/theatre works. Players are able to enjoy playing music as part of a group and gain experience performing for the wider community while furthering their musical skills. The bands comprise brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.

The Concert Band regularly performs at community events in and around the Canberra region. Such events include Floriade and the Multicultural Festival, as well as regular performances at the Old Bus Depot Markets and community Christmas carols.

The Ensemble Band members generally are beginners who are learning their instruments elsewhere or are able to play at an early intermediate level. The Ensemble Band performs regularly throughout the Canberra community at retirement villages, school fetes and shopping centres.

How do I join your Club?

New players are always welcome! No auditions are necessary, but you do need your own instrument. If you are interested in joining either of the bands you can get more information by emailing tuggeranongvalleyband@gmail.com or just come along to a rehearsal.

Membership Details

Fees are payable either annually (to be paid before the end of the first term or the year) or per term. The payment amount varies depending on the band you are playing in and whether or not you are a full-time student as shown below.

Note: The student rate applies to all school-aged and mature-aged full time students. Where a parent of a student is a fee paying band member the student’s payment will be waived.

Tuggeranong Valley Band Rehearsals

Both bands rehearse on Thursday evenings at the Farrer Primary School Hall during school terms. The Ensemble Band rehearses from 6.15pm to 7.20pm and Concert Band rehearsals run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
