Tuggeranong Vikings BMX Club
The Tuggeranong Vikings BMX Club was established in the 1980s and are a Bicycle Motor Cross (BMX) racing group. The Tuggeranong Vikings BMX Club caters for all ages from 2 years old through to 60+. Participants can ride either a 20” wheel bike, a 24” cruiser wheel bike or a balance bike. The Club races most weekends on a Saturday afternoon. They offer points rounds, age racing, graded (skill levels), coaching sessions and fun days.
Great friendships can be formed through the Club as a social rider, it improves your health in a fun atmosphere or you can find a pathway to the next level of competition for the passionate BMX rider.
The Club is involved in many activities include “Tap into Water” which promotes tap drinking water in place of bottled water. They also participate in national sign-on days and sport exhibitions.
There are approximately 130 local licensed riders in the Tuggeranong area. The Tuggeranong Vikings BMX Club love to race and love to show you how it is done! They build great friendships and travel the world chasing the dream of being an Olympian in the greatest sport ever! BMX racing keeps you fit and is the grass roots for other cycling disciplines. It is outdoors and the Club is open all year round. Forget about those gym costs – come and race!! Stay fit and healthy with the whole family.
How do I join your Club?
You can attend the track to talk to one of our awesome volunteers and sign up on the day. $40 will get you a trial membership for 4 months and for $5 you can race. See our calendar for race meetings. Please check our Facebook for race times, as we have different summer and winter race times https://www.facebook.com/TuggBMXclub/. We are located on Sulwood Drive, next door to the Fire Station. We race all year long. The Club hires bikes, helmets and gloves (limited).

BMX Mini Wheelers – $50
BMX Mini Wheelers is an introductory level where riders develop balance, gross motor skills and independence to begin riding a bike. Riders will be able to develop skills that allows their progression in the sport to become seamless as they progress on to the more traditional BMX bike at 5 years of age.
Sprocket Rocket Membership – $112
Sprocket Rocket membership is for any rider under the age of 8. The Sprocket Rocket program is a participation based program, taking the focus from competition to skill based learning programs. This allows children under the age of 8 the opportunity to tune their BMX racing skills in a fun non-competitive environment.
Riders who are 7 years of age will be issued with a sprocket licence initially, and if they turn 8 during their sprocket membership they will be reissued an open licence which reflects their new age of 8.
Club Membership – $112
This membership allows a rider to compete at their own club. You will NOT be able to compete at any other club or other clubs carnivals. You will also be unable to compete at open events held at your own club.
Open Membership – $137
An open membership allows you to ride at any club in Australia, including club carnivals and events.
4 Month Membership – $40
A new 4 month licence is being introduced by BMX Australia to replace the existing 3 ride permit. The aim of this introductory licence is to allow new riders unlimited access to try BMX for 4 months before joining the sport permanently. The licence is aimed at riders to try BMX at a beginner club level. The below guidelines provide further information on the licence:
- This licence is an open licence and therefore members can ride at club and state level, however will not be eligible to ride at State Titles and National events;
- Following the 4 month introductory period the member is then eligible to become a full member (only Open or Sprocket, NOT club) and they will receive a $20 discount off the cost of their full licence;
- Only new members can apply for this licence (no renewals);
- Riders will be issued with a membership card however will not receive a plate or plate number (these are issued upon full BMXA Membership);
- This licence is only allowed to be purchased once by the member.
Volunteer Membership- Free
All volunteers (including club/ state officials)can become members of BMX Australia and fall under our insurance, for free of charge. A membership card will be issued but this does not allow the volunteer to race.
Other available options:
Add Value Membership – $60
- MTBA/CA members submit a completed Add Value Membership Form direct to BMXA together with a photocopy of their current MTBA/CA license (must have least 3 months validity remaining on their primary membership) and pay $40 to BMXA
Membership upgrade – $28
Members can upgrade from a Club Membership to an Open Membership.

Training Schedule
Prior to all Champ rounds we offer training for new, beginner and intermediate risers, normally once a month and as advertised throughout the year.
