New Eco-Friendly Uniforms

Lanyon Vikings and Chisholm Vikings have recently had a uniform refresh that has been welcomed by both staff and patrons. However, the story behind the shirts is almost more impressive than how our staff look wearing them!

The “Marine Blue” polo shirts are made of Repreve fiber. Repreve is a premium fiber that has been upcycled from plastic bottles that were at high risk of entering the ocean. The Vikings Group worked with our uniform supplier to change from the traditional fibres and purposely move to this environmentally protective upcycled polyester.

In addition, the fabric we have chosen for these shirts can be recycled into a new fibre to make new uniforms for someone else when they have reached their end of life. This reduces our impact on landfill at the end of their use.

Our staff at these venues were excited to hear the story behind them and were proud to wear the shirts. “I love the shirts to work in, they are so comfortable and I think they look good, but knowing what the Vikings Group have done to make sure we reduce our impact on the environment – it was so nice to hear. I am proud to wear this shirt for more than one reason.”

Our previous uniforms are being collected and will be upcycled into various items including soft fall for playgrounds and insulation for homes and businesses ensuring that throughout this process we have had a zero impact on landfill.
