Seb Mcleod is off to Wimbledon...

Vikings are proud of the opportunities we are able to provide young people in the Tuggeranong Valley.   However, helping an Apprentice access the experience of a lifetime gives us real joy.

Sebastian is in the second year of his green-keeping apprenticeship and we are happy to be saying goodbye to him for the next six months. BUT ONLY the next six months…

Seb is leaving behind Chisholm cricket pitch to work at Wimbledon during the Tennis Championships. He will be involved in preparing the courts for the world-famous event, maintaining the courts during the games and then working on them once the Championship is completed.

“I’m nervous more than excited, I’ve never been overseas before but can’t wait for the experience.  In the UK they can’t use the same amount of chemicals as Australia so seeing how they manage the greens more naturally is something I can’t wait to learn.

“The Wimbledon Courts use the same lawn that we do at Viking Park, so everything I learn I will be able to pass on to my colleagues at Vikings, it will certainly be a great step for my career.  I can’t wait!!”

Vikings are proud to be supporting Seb throughout this experience and as well as keeping an eye out for him during the broadcast, we look forward to hearing all about the workings of Wimbledon upon his return.

Congratulations, Seb. Travel safe, enjoy the strawberries and cream. And say G’Day to The King for us.
